I just got this game a few days ago and my brother told me Eve U was the way to go to learn everything i needed to learn. I moved to Aldrat, did my application and made sure all my security and everything was in order for them.
They rejected my application. They told me it was because they didn't like my name. It hurt really bad. I actually chose my real first name for Eve. I've been living with that name my whole life, you think I've never been teased. That doesn't make it right for people to just reject you based on it.
Now I see that other people have had problems with Eve U. I was hoping to find a university like a great inclusive school that welcomes all, like the University of California.
Instead, I was rejected by an elitist mindset that would be at home in Harvard or Princeton. I really don't know what I am going to do next in this game, but it hurts to have been told that I am not good enough.
I see now that the University has faced many months of war, and maybe thats the reason they were so mean to me. Maybe their nerves are frayed in these tough times. Maybe I can understand and that makes me feel better about the whole thing.
I noticed a lot of people on here are from a corporation called U Mad. I'm not mad about my rejection, but I am saddened. In any event, I recognize a lot of names on here from Aldrat local, and I hope to see you guys in game soon, both Eve U and non Eve U people. |

I want to apologize. I may be new but I can see that all this has nothing to do with me and I shouldn't have butted in. I hope to see everyone involved (Eve U, UMad and everyone else) in Aldrat and be able to play with all of you guys. I really am enjoying Eve so far.

Total newb question here. If you guys start a huge battle in Aldrat and I want to come out and watch it in my ship and I'm not in eve U or rvb or umad, I can't get damages or hit by the explosions and missiles etc from the battle right?
Because these wars sound pretty awesome and definitely something I want to see in person! |

I've come to understand that the people declaring war on Eve U are viewed as Eve's bad guys.
I'm not saying I know enough to know whats right (because I sure as heck don't) but I have observed one thing . . .
In my 5 days of playing Eve these 'bad guys' are the only ones who have been nice to me, in game or on these forums. Maybe they're catching flies with honey and plan on robbing my ships or the like, but everyone else on Eve has treated me like trash.
When my bro told me I should get this game he also said that in Eve you really can't tell who's good and who's bad. Boy was he right. |

Working on the assumption that RvB won't exclude me for something as petty as not liking my name, I can see myself applying there in the future. It sounds like a blast!
If I hadn't read about RvB after hearing from them in this thread, I never would have known about them, so some good came out of all this for me.
I also hope I get to see some battles in this war as a spectator. I really want to see for myself what this game is all about. |
